1979 Ford Capri Ghia

Here we have the fashion icon of the seventies!
If you missed out on this fantastic car the first time round, you don’t have to any longer, our Capri is a stunning example of the Mk3 3.0 Ghia, finished in striking Ford Metallic Maroon, originally registered in 1979 it was one of the last Capris to be produced in the UK before all production moved exclusively to Germany. The very seventies plush black velour interior provides you with optimum comfort, but the added extras of a sports steering wheel and an array of gauges remind you there's definitely a sports car there too.

Some History of the MK3 Capri
First shown to the public in 1976 at The Geneva Show and launched for sale in 1978, the Mk3 Capri featured much improved aerodynamics than that of it’s predecessor the Mk2, this lead to improved performance and economy compared to it’s predecessor the Mk2. The Mk3 was a heavily face lifted version of the Capri with the now trademark quad headlamps (giving the front end a very similar appearance to that of the Escort RS2000) and the rear spoiler. At the time the Mk3 was launched, the engine and transmission of the Mk2 were carried over, the 3.0s model was at one time regarded as the most desirable model, but in truth the Ghia derivative with the softer automatic rather than manual transmission was the much bigger seller of the V6 engined models.

The Mk3 Capri was given fame and somewhat of a cult following in the UK due to Bodie and Doyle from TV series The Professionals having silver and gold versions respectively. After 1,886,647 Capris had been made the last one rolled off the production line on 19 December 1986. The Capri is remembered for the classic UK & European advertising slogan ‘The car you always promised yourself’ whist North America the Capri was given the slogan ‘The Sexy European’.
